When taking a shot, people have a tendency to undershoot. I am one of them.
Be it asking a girl on a date, making a joke or negotiating a deal, we do it to soften the blow and, allegedly, protect ourselves.
What areas of life do you find yourself undershooting in?
You ask someone for a favor, and you follow up with “it’s okay if you say no, I totally understand. I know it’s hard …”
You look for an indirect way to compliment someone: “you look well-rested”.
Your outfit is sleek but you add a less flattering piece out of fear of being over-dressed.
You want to make a joke, but you lower your voice and tell it only to the small circle around you.
You work remotely during your trip instead of fully taking time off.
My life is full of such half-assed attempts at things.
